‘Give a Dog a Bone… and an animal a home’ is a young, unique and award winning charity, based in Scotland. The charity supports the over 60s to afford a rescue pet companion – tackling loneliness for the individual and homelessness for the animal. Where money is a genuine barrier to an over 60’s person adopting a pet, the charity can help by paying the rehoming fee and, where necessary, continuing to support, each month, with the cost of pet food and/or insurance. Give a Dog a Bone holds regular group dog walks in Glasgow for retired people and hopes to open a community hub, also in Glasgow, in the very near future - providing social and canine companionship to those who love animals. Anyone can come along - with or without a dog - and can benefit from meeting new friends in a relaxed environment. In just 4 years, the Give a Dog a Bone charity has helped over 200 animals in many different ways and continues to grow and spread the word of how it can help those who need it the most.
